Fauvism is a style that came to limelight in 1904, a few years after the dawn of impressionism. Fauvism emphasized painterly qualities and strong color over the representational or realistic values of Impressionism.
Students studied famous fauvist painters (Les Fauves), and then developed their own fauvist landscape, using oil pastels.
